OCT for Non Destructive Testing (NDT)

Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) is an emerging, non-destructive imaging technology capable of producing realtime, high resolution subsurface images of opaque samples. The approach is analogous to ultrasound, but instead of using sounds, it uses light. Therefore you will get images of a much higher resolution - well to the micrometer realm. Depending on the type of tomograph, linescan or 2D detectors are used.

The Lynx SWIR linescan camera with pixels up to 2048 enables enhanced axial resolution with a factor of 2 compared to other available camera types, offering only 1024 pixels. The Lynx offers line-rates of over 10 KHz which enables imaging of fast moving samples. For reduced dark current and enhanced dynamic range, Xenics‘ sensors come standard with one-stage thermoelectric cooling or optional 3-stage. Furthermore you can choose from various configurations between High Sensitivity mode (HS) and High Dynamic Range (HDR) mode in order to optimize the performance.

In the 2D imaging realm, the high-end 640x512-pixel Cheetah-640CL transforms OCT into a dynamic, real-time control method for manufacturing processes.  The Cheetah-640CL is the fastest InGaAs camera in the world featuring a 40MHz pixel clock and delivering 1,730 full frames per second at 12 bit resolution per pixel.
